Dog Exercise

Does your dog seem lethargic, overweight or perhaps even depressed? Chances are your dog may not be getting enough exercise. Studies suggest that nearly 25 percent of the dogs seen by veterinary clinics are overweight. Too much weight puts your dog at risk for health problems involving the cardiovascular system, respiratory system and skeletal systems.

If you find it difficult to get out of the house and exercise yourself, imagine the problem your dog faces not being able to rely upon you, his master. So how do you get out of the house and get your dog the exercise he craves?

Perhaps you've tried running or jogging with your dog. If you're anything like the average person, you may have experienced the frustration of your dog not following your direction or worse getting tangled in the leash. This situation can be at the least annoying, and at the worst quite dangerous! And if you've ever considered exercising with your dog off-lease, you know that it can lead to other complications: lawsuits, accidents, your dog ingesting something he's not supposed to...the list can be quite frightening.

One of the best ways to give your pet a great workout is a walk! Walking with your dog is a good way to start out, as it puts the least amount of stress on both your systems, especially if you're both just starting out. However once you've been walking with your dog for a month or so, his conditioning may improve to the point where he needs a bit more. Now is the time when the WalkyDog can be introduced. The WalkyDog gives your pet the maximum workout he can handle while improving your conditioning as well.

If your dog has a history of medical problems, please see your veterinarian before starting a dog exercise program. If any exercise causes your dog to become lame or if he quickly tires, consult your veterinarian.

Your dog loves spending time with you and introducing exercise into his routine can make that time productive and special for the both of you!
